THE COMPANY

CINQUE was founded in 1984 in Cinque Terre. Two friends of the Italian lifestyle had the plan to bring the carefree, casual fashion of the country into the world with all their love for design. With this idea they met the zeitgeist of the 80s - on the German fashion market there were predominantly local fashion brands - Italian fashion was considered a status symbol at that time and was also gladly given as a gift.

From a family business with almost 200 employees, the company has grown into an international fashion label offering designer clothing for women and men as well as shoes and accessories.

The Italian passion still shapes CINQUE's corporate culture today. It is expressed through a very authentic and open lifestyle. Attributes that can be found in Mediterranean-inspired fashion, in customers and employees as well as in communication.

The Challenge

CINQUE is one of INTEX's oldest customers. The INTEX ERP system was introduced at the beginning of the 90s. CINQUE was no longer able to map its processes consistently and adequately on the platform used until then. In addition, many necessary features were missing, such as a B2B web shop and the user interface no longer met the requirements of a modern application.

The Requirements

It was always important for CINQUE that the software partner INTEX had an understanding of the special features of the collection structures shaped by the classic HAKA. Even when the DOB was included in the portfolio, nothing changed in these special structures. "The fact that INTEX has its roots in the classic HAKA itself made it easier for them to meet our requirements perfectly," explains CINQUE IT Manager Harald Jörissen.

The Solution

INTEX came up with many technological novelties - UNIX operating system, relational database INFORMIX - in addition, the software company showed the readiness to deal with the specific processes at CINQUE and was furthermore able to integrate a complete B2B shop into the software at reasonable conditions. At the beginning of the 2000s, the company switched to the 2nd software generation from INTEX under Windows. It turned out that only very few adaptations to CINQUE-specific processes were necessary - the standard had evolved in such a way.

The Benefits

With the solution installed at CINQUE, INTEX covers the entire workflow. Workflows have been significantly simplified, decision-making and coordination processes have been accelerated, and the availability of goods has been sustainably improved. In addition, a B2B shop was installed, with which CINQUE provides its customers with a powerful online platform and, for example, assortment additions can be carried out without any problems.

"The continuous cooperation between INTEX and CINQUE for decades is a big plus - we have just celebrated our silver wedding anniversary", says CINQUE Managing Director Karl Schleicher jun. CINQUE has always profited from the continuous further development at INTEX and always has a state-of-the-art software solution at its disposal. Cost-intensive new investments have not been necessary, as the functionality of INTEX has permanently adapted to the changing market.
