The Company

ALBERTO is a German fashion company specialising in trousers for men and women as well as golf fashion. Founded in 1922 and headquartered in Mönchengladbach, the third generation of the family business supplies fashionable legwear. The trousers are distinguished by their elegant design and convince with their longevity and high wearing comfort.

The company is internationally successful: ALBERTO supplies 2,500 areas in 56 countries and carries the company claim "Pants We Love" into the world.

Overview

The Challenge

At the end of 2000, ALBERTO was faced with a massive problem: the software solution it had recently acquired proved to be a disaster and could not even remotely guarantee the company's productivity. The difficult task now had to be solved, to find a suitable software in the shortest possible time that could be used immediately - the new season already started in January. The new application not only had to be implemented from one day to the next, it also had to cover the individual needs of the trouser manufacturer.

The Requirements

ALBERTO was looking for an industry solution with complete functionality, in which existing business processes were to be optimized by a new software system. The task was to find a partner who was able to cover the requirements from a standing start with its standard. The need for immediate implementation ruled out costly analysis and adjustments.

The evaluation process was quickly completed: The INTEX system already took into account all the special features of the industry in the standard, there was nothing to prevent commissioning within a few days. So the decision for INTEX was made within a very short time.

The Solution

The software system did not have to be developed in laborious detail work combined with time-consuming sessions; the INTEX system was ready and waiting for implementation.

In cooperation with the INTEX project team, a requirement specification for the system configuration was created. The integration of the ERP software into the existing network was then completed within three days.

INTEX installed the program on a total of 35 PC workstations, and the first orders of the new collection could be recorded after only one month. We started with the master data - first the model and material masters were entered into the new INTEX system, then the parts lists were entered.

INTEX supplied a best-practice solution for trouser manufacturers from its rich pool, which covers all areas of clothing from suits to accessories. In the first step, it was used by 35 users. The high user acceptance right from the start - due to the consistent orientation of the user interface to the Windows standards - was a prerequisite for the fast and smooth introduction of the ERP system.

The Benefit

In the years since then ALBERTO has been working with INTEX Professional for almost 20 years and has increased its turnover by a multiple compared to 2001. Together they mastered the challenges of the rapidly changing market. A large number of new modules have been implemented - special INTEX applications as well as solutions from INTEX partners - which contribute to the accomplishment of special tasks; in addition to financial accounting and warehouse optimization, these include EDI, customs clearance and shipping.

An extremely important and useful part of the solution today is integrated reporting based on Business Objects. With the BI system, information and bundled data can be made available optimally and as far as possible at any time without external support. On the one hand, this saves costs and, on the other hand, it significantly increases reliability thanks to secure business ratios.
